Why this DNC Has Concealed its 2024 Election Autopsy: A Deep Dive.

The action from the DNC to suppress the release of its own post-election analysis on the 2024 election appears shocking but entirely predictable. Resistant to frank assessments, the party's leadership apparatus behaves closer to a PR firm rather than an electoral entity committed to building grassroots capacities to secure victories.

A Climate of Conformity

Unwilling to depart from the prevailing attitude demanding unity, the committee has remained within the Biden-Harris shadow all through this past year. Publishing the findings might have shown that party leaders truly desire to encourage honest conversation about the strategic failures that paved the way for the former president to return to the White House. Instead, the DNC is proceeding as if there is little to understand from the tragic debacle from the last cycle.

The top priority: is this good for winning elections? If not, it becomes a sideline issue from our fundamental goal," a justification that has been offered to justify concealing the document.

Critical Problems a Report Might Have Examined

A genuine analysis of substance would tackle head-on key points of failure. Among them are:

  • Electoral Alienation: Failing to retain among millions of voters that backed the Democratic ticket during the previous election became a critical factor in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • The Decision to Run: The unwavering decision by the incumbent to run again, and a very late withdrawal, has been criticized as denying the party's base of a genuine choice.
  • Abandoning the Working-Class Base: While facing inflation, the campaign reportedly ceding to powerful financial backers without successfully attempting to address the role of corporate greed.
  • A Foreign Policy Impact: The refusal to shift a policy position on a ongoing war is cited as driving away significant blocs, particularly among youth voters, Arab American communities, Muslim voters.
  • Eroding Youth Backing: Research demonstrates a huge drop-off in votes for the candidate among young voters.

A Pattern of Evasion

The decision to withhold fits a longstanding habit to avoid difficult realities. It recalls a situation in which virtually every elected Democrat in Congress acquiesced to an incumbent's determination to running for re-election right up until a catastrophic public debate performance led to a change.

Concurrently, overwhelming numbers of Democratic voters had been repeatedly informing surveyors that they did not want the incumbent to seek re-election.

Campaign Spending Questions

A substantive report might also probe issues about where money went, including the amounts went to high-priced advisors and advertising contractors over the course of a campaign which expended a staggering sum during the general election.

The Underlying Problem

Ultimately, the blockage regarding the analysis highlights a submission toward the existing power structure that oversaw a losing national race. The message for the party's base – including countless dedicated activists – appears to be that they cannot have a right to know the lessons the insiders have learned based on a report based on extensive interviews.

An organization unable to critically review its own failings finds it difficult to climb out of the rut which was so advantageous to their opponents.
